Frequent Questions

What kinds of safety measures are included in the PAGs?

The PAGs include actions that government agencies and members of the public can take to protect people’s health in a radiation emergency.

During a radiation emergency, there are two main protective actions that the public might initially be asked to take to avoid exposure to radiation:  evacuation or sheltering (staying inside). The PAGs also provide guidance on food safety and administration of potassium iodide (KI).
