Frequent Questions

How does EPA sample drinking water for radionuclides?

EPA obtains quarterly drinking water samples from more than 60 RadNet drinking water sampling sites across the country. EPA performs gamma analysis on each sample. Routine analyses of drinking water for gamma emissions takes about a week from the time the lab receives the sample. The results are checked before release to assure that they meet quality assurance criteria.
